Juliana Ross, '10, 2008-2009 President of Simmons Hillel, has been appointed to serve as the Grinspoon Israel Advocacy Intern at Simmons College for the 2008-2009 school year. The internship, originally created in 2002, is a collaboration of the Israel on Campus Coalition and Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life and is due to the continued generosity of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation . Forty students were selected on campuses across North America to serve as interns for the 2008-2009 school year.
The Grinspoon Israel Advocacy Interns are a central force in promoting a positive Israel agenda on campus and for developing a cadre of articulate Israel activists. The Grinspoon Israel Advocacy Internship is an outstanding opportunity for student leaders to affect the culture of Israel on their campuses. Through their knowledge of and passion for Israel, interns have the ability to have a profound impact on their respective campus communities.
Grinspoon interns aim to enhance Israel’s image and educate campus communities throughout North America to be more knowledgeable about and supportive of the State of Israel. The Grinspoon interns influence their campuses by connecting students to Israeli culture, history, and politics while enabling students to recognize the unique role that Israel plays in their lives. Each Grinspoon intern has continued the process of changing campus culture as it relates to Israel by approaching the needs of students at their school in distinctive and thoughtful ways.
