One irate girl

Posted by Shino Ito

i am mad. i am pissed. i am one irate girl right now. WHY? i just found out that few people that i know decided not to vote democrat because obama is black. now it is a bit more than articles i read. actually, decisions were made while back but i just heard of it for the first time. one of them never voted in her life for last 60 years. but she is going to this time because she doesn't want to see black president.

I don't care if you disagreed political views, religious views, pro choice vs. pro life. BUT LET ME SAY THIS TO YOU. PLEASE DO NOT VOTE TO SKIN COLOR, BLACK OR WHITE! we all have red blood. we are human inside and out.

it brought tears to my eyes. i've heard this before that people were saying something like this, but when someone i know, it's hurts. hurts a lot.

Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia quoted: "... That until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes; ..."

peace, love, justice for all...

Take heart.

My optimistic side: the number of people who disagree with that woman far far far outweigh the number who agree.

My pessimistic but still hopeful side: many of the racist idiots will feel ashamed of themselves and just stay home, allowing all of the people the Obama campaign has registered to vote to carry the day.

Hey Shin,
Several people I know from the rural community that I lived in as a teenager, are also planning on voting under the same "principles". My mother and I have tried to talk to these people about their reasons and most of it is sadly based on fear. It's shameful but true. They are fearful that if Obama is elected, it will make African-Americans more "powerful", whatever that means. Anyway, what I try to tell them is that #1, this is an unjustified fear, and #2, Obama will (hopefully) generate hope and inspire people of all backgrounds. I have a hard time understanding people who are basically fighting against equality. Arrrgh!
