Expensive Tickets to Japan

You might ask how much do I usually pay? Last summer when I went Japan, I paid around $800 per person during flying into peak time (first day of Obon). Even christmas & new year, most I've paid is $1200! Those days are OVER!
Just for reference, I've searched days from Dec 24 to Jan 3 09.

Wow. These prices are out of control. I'm sure most of it is the price of fuel. I wonder how much is the weak dollar? Are the prices a little more reasonable for people using other currencies?
