This weekend was really fun, and I didn’t even go out to any bars! On Friday my roommate, one of my friends and I just hung out in my room and watched some movies and TV. Sounds lame, but it was really fun to just hang out and not have to get dressed up and wear nice shoes.
Saturday, my family threw my dad a surprise 60th birthday party. My mom has been planning it pretty much by herself for a few weeks now, because my brother and I were both at school. My job was to get my dad back home which was actually really nerve racking. He came to pick me up because I said I had to babysit at home on Saturday night, and I had to stall him for as long as possible. I took him to dinner in Bartol, told him I forgot something in my room, and tried to keep him at Simmons for as long as possible. We got to my house right on time though, so I guess I did a good job!
Once we got there it was great to see how many of our family, neighbors and friends came out to celebrate my dad. It was also really co ... more »

So, I told you I would be back with a "pro-Boston" advertisement ..
Many of you probably haven't seen it, because as far as I know it hangs in one location - the facade at Patriot Place facing into Gillette Stadium. Yea, I saw it ... because I finally made it there!
I was fortunate enough to be at that lovely Monday Night Football game where we pulled past the Bills with 5:34 left in the game and WON! woop woop! Okay - sorry just had to re-live that for another second =) Anyway ... the advertisement really grabbed my attention on the walk into the stadium. Your forced to read it because its as large as the building and the main staircase passes right by it.
Here it is ..

Now when I first I saw it I had one thought -- Verizon wants to be seen like the Patriot's. Just like Nike wanted to associate themselves with the NYY Yankee symbol.
The reference of the "Pats" in the ad targets a message at “New Englanders”/Patriots Fans. Many would describe the Patriots as a successful orga ... more »

Hi guys :)
I have a confession.... This weekend I was so weak and hugry because I have run out of things to eat in my "Vegan" diet. So my husband said "Lets go eat sushi tonight." I was happy to go with him but I was contemplating on what I was going to eat... Sushi has been one of my favorite meals before I went Vegan.
So we went to the restaurant and I gave into spicey tuna... This Vegan thing is getting really hard and I just don't know how much longer I can do it. I need will-power! AHHH!
Any ideas? I have eaten at the restaurant The Other Side and found it to be wonderful for my diet. Thanks for that suggestion.

The first of the three bands that have really influenced what I listen to, and in a way, who I am, is Rancid. Rancid is a punk band that began in the early 90s. I've seen them play four times, and each time they blow my mind. Before I heard of Rancid, I was listening to bad pop-punk and pop. When I first heard Rancid my freshman year of high school, I was blown away. The first song that i heard by them was "Bloodclot". I hadn't heard music like it before, but I looked for more, and got into many of the bands that I am in to today.

The second band that really influenced me was Against Me!. Against Me! changed my musical preferences once again, turning me towards their energetic sound. Their newer music is more rock than it used to be, but they still fit into that broad "punk" genre. After hearing Against Me! I started looking for more bands that fit sounded like them.

During this search for more music, I came across Defiance, Ohio. This band changed it all for me. Defiance ... more »

Milan, Italy best known for being the fashion capitol of the world, among the status of NYC and Paris. The best fashion designers all have stores within the area between Via Manzoni, Via Montenapoleone, Via della Spiga and Via Sant'Andrea, with famous names including Armani, Laura Biagiotti, Gucci, Krizia, MaxMara, Missoni, Prada, Trussardi, Valentino and Versace.
There are also a lot of great street markets that offer discount shopping as well. I find the coolest things at markets at the best prices! I would advise to check out the market on Via Papiniano, this is the largest street market in the city and a fun experience. Watch out for pick pocketers!!
One of my favorite memories of Milan, other than the shopping, was going to see Leonardo Da Vinci's The Last Supper at church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. Tickets are a bit pricey, but it is worth it! You have to reserve them a couple weeks in advance (usually) They are very strict and security is tight. It was amazing to see up close ... more »

On this lazy Sunday afternoon, after consuming enough clam chowder and cheese-itz to explode (don’t judge me), me and my roommate made the impulsive decision to adopt a cat. I wish I could say this was my first spontaneous visit to the MSPCA, but sadly, it was not. I don’t know whether to blame the sun, the long islands, or the dangerous combination of friends who encourage bad decisions; needless to say, my friend left with a kitty that summer. However, this visit was not nearly as successful. Word of advice—make sure your landlord answers their phone!
For more information about local pet adoption, check out the MSPCA

Simmons put up a battle against the Williams Smith Herons this Saturday, but no victory. The ending score was 2-0 Herons but, considering this team was ranked number 4 in the nation last year, number 1 in seat in this weekends bracket, and ranked 8th overall in the nation this year (..not anymore because they lost to PKs against Ithica on Sunday whooopps!) our team battled hard and didn't allow any goals to be scored in the second half. That's impressive for our team when we were considered the underdogs all season. We surprised the conference by going from ranked 8th in preseason (for GNAC's) to becoming number one!!! We did this by beating Emerson, St. Joe's ME. and Emmanuel in the final stretch of the championship, all of which were teams expected to win because of their rank...but we took that away from them :) and caused many upsets this season.
Although the season is over, we'll be coming back hard in February for spring training. For next year...watch out herons!

Apparently I am not the only one surprised that I have kept this blog up for this long. Well, I have another fun and refreshing story to tell! I am going to tell you about another oral surgery I underwent.
I had gum surgery done when I was about 16 years old. As you have probably noticed I am pretty anal about my teeth. I still wear my retainer to bed every night and I make sure to floss and brush regularly (let’s hope). Apparently I used to brush my teeth a little too hard (Note- ONLY use soft toothbrushes) because my gum line started to recede so I had to have reconstructive surgery before it got any worse. I was 16 at the time and my father was having the same surgery done in the same week. (He’s about 30 years older than me). Once again my father had a fantastic experience while I had a terrible one.
My doctor was super creepy and he basically butchered my mouth. I still have terrible scarring. They basically cut skin from the roof of your mouth and stitch it ... more »
