Lady Gaga

Posted by Emily Mills

Since this is a music blog, it is the perfect place to confess my absolute LOVE for Lady Gaga!

I have a soft spot for female pop artists such as Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, Fergie, Gwen Stefani, etc. I even listen to Britney Spears on occasion (let's face it, her new single "3" is CATCHY).

Her music is so catchy and she's a unique artist. She has bold fashion, and she's had some of the biggest hits this year.

Her newest song that just leaked, Dance In The Dark, is absolutely amazing. It's been on repeat on my Itunes ever since I got my hands on a copy of it.

The Fame is such a great album. I just recently bought it, only having a few singles from it previously. I LOVE IT! Every song on the album is catchy, her voice is so talented, and all the songs are instant favorites. I can't wait for her next album to come out (THIS MONTH!)

There's something about CVS...

Posted by Danielle Alves

Everytime I go into CVS I always want to buy up the whole store! I usually go there to pick up a particular item but always end up buying up other things I think I need. I think it's really hard just to go there and only buy one thing, especially when there's so many sales always going on. Especially since I have a CVS rewards card I always tend to look for more sales. I feel that in living in Boston, CVS and Wal-Greens are the only stores where you can really buy stuff. I'm thinking that's probaly why I shop there so much, because of the lack of alternatives. Either way there's just something about CVS that always make me want to spend more...

Flowers

Posted by Jessica Hilton

Reason #342 on why I love theknot.com. I can snoop and gather ideas and helpful tips from other brides to be, and just married brides. It is in this way, that I think I have found the perfect flowers for my fall wedding!! I was looking at one of the knotties (thats what we call eachother) formal photos and sent her a message about her flowers. This is what I got back:

Decka - my flowers were all calla lilies. The colors/varieties seem to be really vary in what they are called, but I believe they were either dark "Mango" callas or "Flame" callas. The bridesmaid bouquets were orange and pink/purple mokara orchids and the same orange calla lilies. I think there may have been a few orange roses in there as well.

I have been running with the red/orange/purple theme for a while now and have been thinking about having bridesmaid dresses in some or all of those colors. The first picture is the bride and her bouquet and the second is the bridesmaids bouquets.

Chianti Wine Tours!

Posted by Emma Bisogno

The Chianti region is my favorite place in Italy because of its beauty...and also because of its wine. If you are ever in Italy, you need to reserve a day for at least a couple of Chianti wine tours. You will not only get to see the most beautiful views of Italy, but you will also get to taste the best assortment of wines in the world.

When my family and I were staying in Tuscany, we decided to rent an apartment in Florence. The women who owned the property was nice enough to get us a brochure of a tour guide company that offered a private car escort to three different wine tours in the Chianti region of Italy.

Our day started off with cappuccinos at the Piazza de Michelangelo, which without a doubt has the best view of Florence!

From there we headed to our first wine tour of the day. We went to a wine museum! It was one of the coolest places I have ever been to. You purchased a card and put however much money you wanted on it, and from there you could go around and try all the differ ... more »

"The Gang Wrestles for the Troops."

Posted by Kelly Nolan

Hey everyone!!

So last time I posted I talked about the 3rd episode of It’s Always Sunny. However, in this post I am going to skip to the most recent episode, episode 7 just because particularly funny happened this Halloween that relates to the episode.

So this latest episode was called “The Gang Wrestles for the Troops.” Basically, the gang wants to show their support for the troops. They think of the most “American” way of showing them how much they care. They decide to put on a wrestling match for the local community. Fist, they try and hire an amateur wrestler to perform but after he gets arrested, the gang decides that they are going to be the ones in the ring. Their stage name is “the birds of war.” They come out in camouflage cargo shorts, beaks, and full eagle feathers. (To show their patriotism as eagles of course) Frank arrives as the “Trash Man.”

Simultaneously in the episode, Dee has been talking to a solider over sees in the war. They plan to meet when ... more »

Eating out

Posted by Colleen Lynch

One of the best things to do in Boston is to go out and try all of the restaurants and eateries the city has to offer. However, eating out can be a dangerous way to load on the calories and fat due to the food's content, the way it is prepared and the extremely generous portion sizes the restaurant gives us.
Many places around the area have vowed to make their menus stocked with healthier options for customers. There are a couple I highly recommend trying out if you feel the need to step out for a bite:

-b.good (Back Bay and Harvard Square)
-UFood Grill (right in the Landmark Center)
-Grasshopper Restaurant (Alston/Brighton)
-Veggie Planet (Harvard Square)
-Grezzo Restaurant (North End)

For more information on these restaurants or other healthy spots check out yelp.com! The meals will leave you satisfied and not regretful.

Boys of Boston: Mind Readers

Posted by Alysha Menakaya

BOB (11/8)

Men are not mind readers. Unfortunately we have to communicate with them. I guess we’re not as easy to read as we think we are. Some DO’s and DONT’s

DO ask which movie/restaurant/ play/ museum we’d like to go to...Never assume.

DON’T mention other girls, especially ex-girlfriends.

DO open the door for us. It makes women feel special.

DON’T wear too much cologne.

DO wear cologne. It’s only a bonus if a man smells delicious.

DON’T assume there is going to be a kiss at the end of any date.

DO dress nicely, shower, fresh breath.

DON’T FORGET HER NAME.

DO LISTEN.

DON’T be late. It’s a bad first impression.

DO complement. Chris Rock says, “Girls need food, water, and complements.” This is for survival.

DON’T assume you have to pay for the whole date. Girls are independent these days.

DO be sympathetic if she cancels on the date.

DON’T talk about yourself too much.

DO PLAY HARD TO GET. It drives a girl crazy when she thinks she can’t quite get a guy ... more »

Boston Christmas Festival 2009

Posted by Andrea Varrasso

Today is the last day for the Boston Christmas Festival 2009 at the Seaport World Trade Center. The festival started Friday November 6th at noon and will end today at 5 p.m.
Tickets at $12 but there is a discount coupon online for $2 off admission. All kids get in for free. Tickets are available online so you can avoid the wait, which is great if you are traveling in a big group. Also, large groups over fifteen people get a special discount rate of $9 per person.
Over 300 artisans will be there with there crafts. These crafts range from vases, lamps, mugs, and much, much more. Then there is a gingerbread house competition, and the proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston.
So, if you are looking for something on this lovely Sunday I suggest checking it out. Keep the Seaport World Trade Center in mind for various exhibitions.
