Music is important in ads, too

Posted by Shannon Brown

So recently, I have been trying to figure out how I could possibly break into the music supervision industry. Then, I thought, maybe ads could do it.

Let's be honest, the songs in ads make a big difference. Has a commercial ever made you cry? You can bet the song in it had something to do with it.

Commercials can also help launch the careers of the artists used in them. I bet the Submarines are way more popular now that their song, “You, Me, and the Bourgeoisie” has been used in about 10 iPhone commercials.

That is really the part I am interested in. Also, I feel like if more international songs were used in commercials, it might encourage more cultural competency. We can always use some more of that : )

Here are some links to some of my favorite songs that have recently been featured in commercials. Can you think of what they are in the ad for?
