On Thanksgiving, my boyfriend and I announced to my family that we would be getting married. We said we were thinking of July, that way I would be done with school, and it's a time of year that boyfriend Travis' family will be in the area. Everyone was overjoyed, but there were two people who weren't as excited I as expected...my sisters.
I am the youngest of three girls. My oldest sister, Danielle, has a son and has been engaged for about 6 years. Since it's been so long, I think the whole family has figured she'll never really get married.
My middle sister is Kristin. She has two daughters, and for the past year has been planning her wedding for this August.
Then, last month, Danielle announced that she had bought a wedding dress and reserved a place for her wedding...on June 20. Right before July. I think she couldn't handle her sister who is almost 10 years younger than her getting married before her.

My two sisters and I all planning weddings for this year is, well, interesting. Besides the warring over colors, dates, dresses and hairdos, the experience has been sort of enlightening. It's interesting to see how even though we all grew up together, we each turned out so differently. This really shows when I look at the kind of wedding each of us is planning.

It was my sister, Kristin. Not only was she wide awake, but she was fired up...and chose me to unload on.
"She's stealing my thunder," she said, as I rubbed my eyes and looked over at the clock. I had no idea what she was talking about.
"Danielle picked the same colors as me, black and white, and her wedding is first," she whined. "She knew I always wanted black and white! Can you believe it?" I could believe it, and I didn't understand why it was such an issue...especially in the wee hours of a Saturday morning.
Really, I don't understand what all the hoopla revolving weddings is about. Why do designate colors for c ... more »
