Why Aren't My feet Cold?

Reading through the comments on my last blog, I was stuck by one. Caroline asked me if I as nervous at all about my wedding. I was surprised by this, not because it's an odd question, but because I realized I have don't have anxiety about getting or being married.

Maybe it's because I have known Travis for so long. We first met in fifth grade, when only I thought of him as the annoying jerk who threw a dodge ball at my face in gym class and made me cry. I later learned that this was because he had a crush on me...way to show it.

Still, I can't get Caroline's question out of my mind. I felt like for some reason, I should be nervous about marriage. Shouldn't my feet be a little cold, or at least chilly?

My oldest sister, Danielle, is getting married in June after an almost 10 year engagement. The reason it has taken so long for the nuptials? Her boyfriend Dave is nervous. Not to be married, but to say vows "in front of people."

To wear or not to wear

This morning my sister sent me the most vile, tasteless email. I immediately closed the window when I saw the vulgar image it contained, but all day, that picture keeps popping into my mind.

My bridesmaid dress.

Somehow, my stylish sister managed to pick one the ugliest garments I have ever seen for me to wear to her wedding. And not just wear- buy! Why do I have to spend money on something so dreadful?

So this leaves me in a rut. The mess—I mean dress—costs more than $300! That is money that I could use for my wedding, or even more importantly, my bills.

Even though it’s not something I want at my wedding, I understand the tradition of having bridesmaids and I’m excited my sister wants me to be such a big part of special day. I also understand that traditionally the girls who are lucky enough to wear a dress picked by someone else have to pay for it. But shouldn’t there be some discretion here?
