bridal brawls

Posted by Amanda Collins

Have you ever watched that show "Bridezillas"? I'm always amazed at how worked up these women get over such insignificant things, throwing temper tantrums over the littlest details. I bet after their weddings these brides watch the episode and are horrified. If only they could take a step back from the sitaution, and look at it through objective eyes, they could see how silly they are.

As my two sisters and I plan our weddings for later this year, there have been a number of Bridezilla moments. In a family of all girls, I'm pretty used to cat fights, but until the wedding-planning I hadn't seen many of them since we were all teenagers. Luckily for me, I haven't really been involved, but have sat back and watched their fur fly over everything from tablecloth colors to the guest list. Who cares if one or two things are the same at the weddings, I've always thought.

But now, I care.

Something has finally happened for me take issue with. I'm not one for cat fights, but I'm having a hard t ... more »

Nit-picking Bride

I'm starting to feel pretty bad for my soon-to-be brother-in-law, Dave, after spending a weekend with him and my sister. With their wedding fast-approaching, my sister is getting on him about every little thing...including his fingernails.

She is insisting that he stop biting his nails NOW, so that by the time their weding comes in June, he will have nice fingernails for the photos. The poor guy gets slapped on the wrist every time his hand goes near his mouth. If I were him I'd be biting my nails even more out of sheer fright--is he marrying his mother?

She hasn't said anything to me about it yet, but I'm sure I'm next. Obviously, a bridesmaid with ugly fingernails could ruin ... more »

Crooked Love

Posted by Amanda Collins

With me and my two sisters planning weddings for this year, I've known for a while that the coming months would be crazy. But now, I'm not so sure it's all going happen. I think Danielle's June wedding may get called off.

Now it's not because of stress or cold feet. It's way worse than that. Her boyfriend Dave messed up big time.

He put a stamp on an invitation crooked! (How dare he??!!) Here's how it went down...

Always a perfectionist, Danielle has usually prefers to do things herself. But Dave insisted that he wanted to help getting the invitations out. So he set up a station and began putting the invites together. He carefully placed each little card its its own envelope, sealed the back and put them in pile. Then, he licked a LOVE stamp, stuck it on, and got them ready to be mailed.

But they couldn't be mailed until they were inspected by Danielle. When she found the crooked stamp, she was furious. They got into a big fight, after which Danielle called me to get my opinion. I tol ... more »
