Taxachusetts no more
If you think Massachusetts has high taxes, think again. Currently Massachusetts ranks 28th out of 50 states with 10.6% of income for state-local tax burden. Which state has highest tax burden? Vermont with 14.1% and Alaska as lowest with 6.6%.
Why Massachusetts has a nick name "Taxachusetts" then? Well, according to the report, in 1980, Massachusetts was ranked as 2nd highest for state and local tax burden.
