I’ve been looking for a sushi restaurant that I’m happy with since I just love sashimi. When I drink beer (yes, I do drink), I don’t like to eat too much rice with it, so sashimi is preferred dish for me over sushi. My husband and I tried this new restaurant called Haru (http://www.harusushi.com), which means spring in Japanese.
We ordered shrimp tempura maki as appetizer followed by two orders of sashimi plate. Fish was amazingly fresh and you can just taste them. Conventionally fish is cut to fit in your mouth, but this place cut them very big that I had to cut them in 2 pieces to eat them. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining. My husband thought fish was thinner than conventional, but since each slice was big, it did not feel like it was thinner. Presentation of the dish was beautiful. I like very thin radish that almost looks like noodles and the plate had ton of them.
Customer service was great. They took our coats at the time we sat down and gave us number tags. I like that methods so that I don’t have to worry about someone is going to take my jacket by mistake. We went when the place didn’t have too many customers. I am not sure customers will be as great as it was during the busy time.
Overall, I give A+ and I sure go back there again for fresh and tasty sashimi. I’ve asked if all the suhi chefs were Japanese and answer was no. There are some Chinese, Korean, and Japanese sushi chefs.
Price was reasonalble but beer was expensive. We paid $6 each for Asahi Super Dry (beer) and I think $24 per plate of sashimi.
Some terminologies:
Sashimi – raw fish without rice.
Sushi – often used here as raw fish on top and rice on bottom
Maki – roll
