Ubuntu on OLPC
Posted by Shino Ito
I have been working very hard to install Ubuntu on my One Laptop Per Child XO laptop. I followed directions that were giving http://olpcnews.com/forum/index.php?topic=1435.0 . Every step, I followed carefully. But it was still a bit confusing, though managed to completed it.
THEN... it doesn't boot. It hangs at img file at the time of reboot. It get stuck. I even left it over night since SD card may be too slow. Well, in the morning, it was still stuck @ same place.
In any rate, before I gave up, I once again did google search using word "stuck" and I found this posting http://sprocket.io/blog/2008/05/ubuntu-hardy-heron-on-the-olpc-xo-1 that seems to worked for someone who had same problem as me.
So, I re-did every step now following new directions. It was MUCH easier than other directions and it went SO smooth, those hours I've spent following other directions was such an waste!
OLPC's give one get one will be soon available over http://amazon.com/xo from November 17, 2008 an ... more ยป
