8 Track Music: Keeping you on track with the freshest sounds: 9

Hello Everyone! Alright, so a lot has been happing in the music scene lately. Its now november! Thus, I am going to try things a little different for this post. I am going to review one album in its entirety...

1. From the Hut,to the projects to the Mansion; Wyclef Jean; dropped 11/10/09

Wyclef is back in da house! finally! This new album is different from anything Wyclef has released. Wyclef, in a recent EW.com interview explains that he made the "CD, a collaboration with mixtape producer DJ Drama, to inform young listeners (and remind older ones), that the musician and producer is also a rapper. That means, in part, adopting the alter-ego of “Toussaint St. Jean,” a nod to the 18th-century Haitian revolutionary Toussaint L’Ouverture. 'It was very important to go back to the basic fundamentals,' he says. 'It’s important [for people to realize], ‘Oh, damn, despite everything—we see him shaking his hips with Shakira, he write all of these big songs—his fundamentals are hi ... more »

Hey Yo!

Hope everyone had a baller halloween! This week was jam-packed full of releases so lets jump right in:

Julian Casablancas: Phrazes for the Young: dropped 11/03/09

Lead singer and writer behind the popular band, The Strokes, Julian Casablancas delivers his newest project. His solo album is an enjoyable experience with sounds similar to The Strokes. The lyrics are witty and melodies dream-like. This album definitely makes up for Casablancas last disappointing release with the Strokes. Buy this one and I promise you won't stop listening.

Shwayze: Let It Beat: dropped 11/03/09

Shwayze is that kind of band that you just can't take too seriously. Keeping that in mind, I was surprised by how much I liked their album. Shwayze is not preaching morals or promising mind blowing acoustics, but thier music is fun and fun to let loose too. So, for those of you out their searching for a guilty pleasure this just might be your pick.

OK, folks as for concerts here in beantown, there are a fe ... more »

Holla Peeps!

These weeks are just flying by! Ok, I have a diverse listing of album reviews...so I hope you enjoy!

The Dead Weather;Live at Third Man Records; 10/27/09 I am excited to write about this one with you guys since this is a pretty stellar band. This project features band members of the White Stripes, the Raconteurs, the Kills, and Queens of the Stone Age aka. Jack White,Jack Lawrence, Alison Mosshart, and Dean Fertita. The album isn't so much heavy as it is thick with layers of emotion and a tense atmosphere. This album is definitely worth a purchase. I also hear they're great live!

MC Chris;Part Six Part Two; 10/06/09 This self proclaimed "nerd" is slowly gaining a wide fan base. The high-pitched rapper represents everything unconventional. His lyrics are easily relatable and speak to subjects not usually thought of when listening to hip-hop. He's fast paced and his lyrics are quick and sophisticated. For a fun listen, give this a try!

Hey Guys!

Hope everyone had a good week, but Its already that time of the week again and there has been some interesting releases...

Flight Of the Conchords: I told you I was Freaky: 10/20/09 This witty duo is back for a their second studio length album. Featuring songs from their hit HBO self-titled show, the Flight of the Conchords are back! What I find so great about this music is that it emanates pure fun-every song mocks a different genre. Theres not much more I can say except if you want a record that makes you laugh, but also has something to say...pick this up. 'Nuff Said.

Standout Track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bte1M8d2Mu4

Joss Stone; Colour Me Free; 10/20/09 God, this girls got talent! Finally, back from what seemed like an eternity, Joss Stone dazzles audiences with her passionate soulful voice that gives anyone chills. Stone avoids emotional grandstanding and vocal tricks to deliver a raw and honest album that speaks to listeners. I highly recommend you buy this al ... more »

Hey everyone!

Hope everyone had good long weekend...Its time to get back in the grind though so lets jump right in.

Ok, so again, I am trying to mix things up and not stick to one particular genre. The album drops this past week have been pretty good...so here are some highlights!

The Flaming Lips: Embryonic: Album dropped 10/09/2009 The Flaming Lips, love them or hate them, have consistently innovated themselves throughout the years. This album glows with a new sound and gives a complete set list of 22 songs for their fans...quite the bang for your buck. Since forming in the 80's, this album is their 3rd studio album of the decade which many fans praise as a "return to form". The experimental, more dark sounding album, keeps the listener wanting more and each song is a surprise. I highly recommend you guys check this out!

Hey Folks,

Is it just me or is sickness spreading like wildfire these days! A side-note I know, but just keep yourselves healthy because ( speaking from first hand experience)...the common cold is horrid.

Aight, so per usual here are some reviews and recent music happenings...

Basement Jaxx, Scars, dropped 9/22/09 For those who enjoy some good ol' happy dance music...this is the album for you. The new release from Basement Jaxx, proves to be original with a really diverse range of songs. The appearances are pretty eclectic as well, Yoko Ono and Sam Sparro are just some of the features. If you like music that gives you that sense of escapism, than definitely give this one a listen!

Standout Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDqO1skF4fo

I usually do a couple music reviews...but I thought I would shake things up this time!

I don't know if anyone watched, or is remotely interested, in MTVs top 10 MCs list of '09, but I thought I would give you guys the link...I always find this list f ... more »

Hey Guys!

So another week has come to a close-so that means its time to wrap up the weeks music highlights!

OK, so here are some albums just recently dropped. I tried to pick an eclectic mix to keep all you readers interested...

La Roux, La Roux, album dropped: 9/29/09 The british electropop duo comprised of singer Eleanor "Elly" Jackson, and synth player, co-writer and co-producer Ben Langmaid, recently just dropped their first full length self-titled album, La Roux.Their music is influenced by 1980s synthpop and anyone who always feels the beat and craves feel-good on a sunday morning music-has definitely gotta give this a listen!

Sean Kingston, Tomorrow, album dropped: 9/22/09 Ok, so I haven't done a negative review thus far...but I think the time has come. Sean Kingstons break out song Beautiful at the time seemed fresh, but one album later and he is still releasing the same generic overproduced pop music with the sole intention of topping the top 100 chart...you know an album i ... more »

Hey Guys!

Since I last posted there has been a ton of new album releases and developments within the music scene. So, lets jump right in...!

Ok, in-terms of alum releases, here are the highlights:

Jay-Z, The Blueprint 3, Dropped 9/12/09 The album is fresh. Jay-z is definitely on the way to getting his edge back...which is pretty hard to keep when you've been out of the "hood" for over a decade and are now a major mogul. Rebelling the current fad of over-produced rap, Jay has a hot list of collaborators including kanye and Swiss Beatz, that help him deliver a raw and conscious album.

Standout Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6L-ZP31WW0

Kid Cuddi, Man on the Moon, Dropped 9/15/09 Finally! The much anticipated debut album, Man on the Moon, dropped this past tuesday. Cuddi's album is quite honestly a mixed bag. Some songs were a little lackluster, but there are some exceptional tracks which are sure to get some recognition. The most interesting part about this album is Cuddi's c ... more »
