Students Present Their Recruitment Campaigns Before a Full House!

Posted by Edward Vieira, Jr

On the evening of May 30th, in the MCB C103, before a full house and Simmons Radio listeners (180-200 attendance turnover and 50 radio listeners), three students from Dr. Ed Vieira’s advanced advertising class presented their ad campaigns to recruit Big Sister in the Boston area to judges, Mia Roberts, COO of the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston, Jim Corcoran, Professor and Chair of the Communications Department, and Professor Phyllis Waldman, Communications Professor.

The three competitive presentations targeted three groups: African American, Latina American, and Asian American women. The Latina American team was selected as the recipient of the Advertising Copy and Layout Award, which was funded by Big Sister.

Mia Johnson was quoted: “The students' work was excellent and will definitely help us in our effort to recruit women of color... A big thanks to Cheryl (Howard) for connecting us and making this possible.”
