Associate Professor/Program Director, Old Dominion University Library Science Program, Norfolk, VA

Old Dominion University invites applications for an Associate Professor to serve as the Program Director of an expanding Library Science Program in the Department of Teaching & Learning, Darden College of Education, beginning July 25, 2017. The College seeks an individual with an established record of research in the library or information field and experience with ALA accreditation. The program director will provide leadership and direction for building program capacity for our nationally recognized library program.

Responsibilities include:

(1)      producing scholarly research and publications in librarianship or related areas;

(2)      conducting and seeking external funding to support scholarly activities;

(3)      serving as the graduate program director for the Library Science Program;

(4)      growing a program through leadership in developing courses, areas of concentration, and certificates in the broad field of information and library science;

(5)      teaching in library and information science courses; and

(6)      developing and maintaining partner relationships with stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications are: (1) an earned doctorate in library/information science or related field; (2) a strong history of research and scholarly activities; (3) experience in or strong potential for a leadership position; and (4) established research, teaching and service record.

Preferred Qualifications are: (1) evidence of successful administrative experience; (2) experience with ALA, CAEP, and regional accreditations; and (3) national activity with library and information professional organizations.
