Behavioral Health Specialist

Position Summary:

The Behavioral Health Specialist provides consultation, education, and support to CCACG's clinicians and provider network regarding behavioral health/substance abuse treatment and management. The Behavioral Health Specialist coordinates behavioral health/addiction treatment services in accordance with the treatment plan, and works collaboratively with the clinical team to manage or co-manage complex behavioral health cases. We have positions available in Lawrence, Charlestown and Brockton.

  • Provides direct service including home visits for evaluation and short term support to individuals and families at the request of the primary care providers.
  • Provides triage for patients with behavioral health and substance abuse issues, referring to appropriate inpatient or outpatient setting in collaboration with the primary care providers.
  • Monitors patient progress in treatment and assists the clinical team with evaluating the need for continued services.
  • Authorizes behavioral health treatment plans and coordinates services with insurers and managed care organizations according to policy and procedure.


Massachusetts licensure required LCSW, LICSW, or Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist and 3-5 years' experience providing behavioral health services. Massachusetts licensure required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge base and judgment necessary for independent clinical decision making.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Strong interpersonal and customer relations skill required as well as excellent organizational, time management and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to openly address and acknowledge issues of substance use and mental illness.
  • Knowledge regarding psychiatric rehab and understanding of recovery model.
  • Bilingual preferred.
