House Parent with SMART Team

Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of court-involved youth? SMART Team is actively seeking qualified individuals to become licensed House Parents with the Transitional Homes program. As a House Parent, you have the unique opportunity to open your home to young people ages 12-18 who are entering the court system for first time, low risk-level offences. Youth who enter Transitional Homes versus a secure detention setting see dramatically improved outcomes in education, physical and mental well-being, and decreased recidivism rates. House Parents are the key component in helping our local youth reach their potential.

SMART Team's House Parents receive assistance with licensing to get started and ongoing support once active in the program. A tax-free stipend of $81.59 per night when a youth is placed in your home plus an additional $25 per night when your home is waiting for a young person makes this a wonderful opportunity for those looking to give back to the community. This rate can be doubled for homes with space for two youth at a time.

SMART Team is looking for House Parents who are motivated to make a difference! The best House Parents are able to offer a safe, structured home environment through a supportive lens. House Parents must be willing to participate in comprehensive background checks, physical home inspection, and home study interview process. House Parents are responsible for providing a secure home setting for young people who are being held on bail; the ability to closely supervise youth is imperative. Ideal position for alumni, graduate students, or retirees interested in using criminal justice-based skills.
