Substance Abuse Counselor

Due to growth within our corporation we are seeking an energetic Substance Abuse Counselor for our Day Treatment/Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Services. Recovering Champions, located in Falmouth, MA, is an organization focused on treating individuals with the disease of addiction. 

The Substance Abuse Counselor will provide confidential counseling and support for persons and their families dealing with the disease of addiction. Counseling may be in group or individual settings with the goal of encouraging a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle for each client. This position requires patience, dedication, and a desire to help people in crisis. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Clinical Director, with considerable latitude for the exercise of discretion and independent judgment.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate professionalism and practice teamwork
  • Expertise in running group and individual therapy sessions
  • Ensure the quality of clinical services including measurement of managed care standards with experienced in utilization review and state audits
  • Collaborate with staff, within all levels of the organization, to promote an interdisciplinary culture
  • Maintain best practice clinical standards for all Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Services
  • Superior organizational skills in a fast paced program
  • Understanding of substance abuse recovery and 12 step programs

Professional Competencies:

  • Perform quality clinical work within deadlines, with or without direct supervisionInteract professionally with colleagues, clients, and collateral contacts
  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all projects
  • Work independently, while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other counselors and organizations
  • Current state licensure: LICSW, LMHC preferred

    Education & Specifications:


Masters level degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health or related field preferred.
