Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters, one of the nation's oldest mentoring organizations, transforms lives through friendship. We introduce children in need to adult mentors, and we match adults who have disabilities to new friends in their communities. Jewish Big Brother Big Sisters offers Friend 2 Friend volunteers and participants an opportunity to be matched in the Friend 2 Friend Community Program and/or the Friend 2 Friend MAGIC Program (Monthly Activity Groups In the Community). Friend 2 Friend also collaborates with other agencies in the Jewish community to offer additional programming to participants such as Chaverim Chaim - Friends for Life, which provides an optional once/month opportunity for group socialization, and K'sharim: Connecting Adults with Disabilities to Jewish Life, which provides opportunities to participate in celebrations in various synagogues around the Greater Boston area. - See more at:

Temporary part-time position (15-20 hours/week) transitioning to permanent full-time beginning 10/1/16. 

Position overview:

Primary responsibilities include providing Community match support, screening of new potential clients and volunteers, conducting match meetings and facilitating and supervising monthly MAGIC groups.


  • Conduct, track and record regular contact with pending, waiting and matched clients and volunteers according to the program supervision schedule. Supervision of assigned caseload/matches includes support, problem solving, help navigating match and program, and providing information and referral.
  • Interview and prepare detailed case summaries of prospective volunteers and clients and recommend appropriateness to participate in program.
  • Run 1 - 2 MAGIC groups per month (occur on Wednesday evenings) including implementation of details related to monthly program(s), notification of participants and provision of on-site supervision. Complete match dictation following each event.
  • Assist in planning, managing and staffing collaborative programs like Chaverim Chaim and K'sharim.
  • Support execution of the F2F marketing and recruitment plan including individualized volunteer recruitment for clients on waiting list, represent F2F at program recruitment events and help with implementation of new initiatives as needed.
  • Assist in development of training sessions to benefit volunteers around specific issues regarding their friendship.
  • Perform such other duties as assigned by the F2F Director or agency President/CEO.

Minimum entrance requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years experience working with people with disabilities or 2 years of related experience.
  • Must be a licensed driver with a car and be willing to work 4 evenings per month.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; attention to detail and the ability to independently organize and follow through on multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with groups; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable interfacing with all levels of staff and outside constituents.
  • Commitment to client and volunteer confidentiality and safety.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Jewish holidays and customs (preferred).
