Director, Office of Alcohol & Other Drug Services

The Director of AODS, an office within the Dept. of Health Promotion & Education, provides leadership and vision for developing, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive substance abuse prevention program at Harvard University focused on education, intervention, policy initiatives, and coordination with treatment providers. Develops and oversees educational programs for the community to include workshops, trainings, campaigns and web-based interventions. Develops dashboard indicators to measure program effectiveness, monitor progress, investigate trends, and modify services to promote quality improvement. Serves as first point of contact for the University on issues related to alcohol and other drugs. Advises the University on issues pertaining to alcohol policy and residential education. Works closely with the Director of the Office of Sexual Assault Prevention & Response to develop programming and provide presentations. Collaborat es closely with health educators within the Department of Health Promotion & Education to develop programming on topics such as wellness, sleep, sexual health, and stress management. Supervises the Program Coordinator, Staff Assistant, undergraduate interns, graduate level MSW interns and peer educators.


Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field. Specialized training and experience in alcohol/drug use and addiction, including primary and secondary prevention strategies and treatment options. Knowledgeable about the intersection of alcohol and sexual assault. Must have 3-5 years of experience with adolescents/young adults in a college setting.

Excellent skills in group facilitation and training, public speaking and outreach. Candidate should be knowledgeable about best practices in developing alcohol education and prevention programs for a university population.
