Clinical Social Worker

We are seeking a full-time (32-40 hrs. a week) grant funded Clinical Social Worker (SW) training to start during October-November 2016.

The Grow Clinic for Children is an outpatient subspecialty clinic at Boston Medical Center that started in 1984 to provide comprehensive specialty medical, nutritional, developmental and social services and dietary assistance to children from the Greater Boston area referred with Failure To Thrive (FTT) by their primary care physician. In addition to providing clinical services, we advocate for policies that decrease the number of children in need. The Grow Clinic is part of BMC's Department of Pediatrics.

Utilizing clinical social work techniques and theory, assesses, consults on, and intervenes with GROW clinic patients and their families regarding the impact/amelioration of emotional and psychosocial problems. Duties also include, but are not limited to, conducting psychosocial assessments, planning and implementing effective treatments, evaluation, education, referrals, coaching and mentoring of family members and patients. The position consults with, collaborates and communicates with a wide range of internal hospital departments, social, governmental and legal agencies, courts, schools, clinics, other hospitals, physicians and other sources in the overall care of the patient. The SW is part of a multidisciplinary team with a Pediatrician, Registered Dietitian and Outreach Worker. Each week is comprised of clinic sessions at BMC and follow-up. Home visiting is an important piece of followup for the Grow Clinic model. BMC serves a racially and ethnically diverse patient population.
