Social Worker- Community Based Shelter Program

The Social Worker provides support services to families in scattered sites and co-shelters, helps stabilize families in crisis, and develops and implements plans to assist families' transition to permanent housing within defined time periods. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 
1. Provides assessment of families' stabilization and housing needs, and
develops plan to best address stabilization and re-housing goals. 
2. Provides home visits to support families, monitor properties, and implement plans.
3. Develops understanding of strengths and limitations of families served. 
4. Advocates with families and providers to establish highest level of
residential and life stability.
5. Leads or co-facilitates groups. 
6. Serves as liaison to schools, medical providers, and others to assure 
highest level of community integration.
7. Provides family intervention to identify and assist families with 
problem solving, crisis intervention, and other needs. 
8. Conducts family meetings as needed. 
9. Provides full case management to maximize eventual stability in permanent housing.
10. Develops plans according to contract expectations. 
11. Participates in all staff, team and clinical meetings. 
12. Maintains clear, non-judgmental documentation in families' files.
13. Participates in supervision and professional development 
as determined in performance evaluations. 
14. Assumes other responsibilities as requested by supervisory staff.

MSW Degree preferred, with direct experience in social services.
Ability to work in office and field based settings with a diverse, homeless population. Flexibility and compassion essential. 
Second language skills highly desirable. 

Program Coordinator

This position is based at 727 Atlantic Avenue, Boston, MA.

Work Schedule: 
Full-time, 40 hours. 
Weekdays 8:30 am - 5:00 pm with flexibility to best meet families' needs. 
Some Evening/Weekend availability will be required.
