Elder Care Advisor/Long Term Care Ombudsman Program Director

The Elder Care Advisor/Long Term Care Ombudsman Program Director is responsible for developing and coordinating the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program and is the staff expert on agency and community resources, especially those resources relating to institutional care. S/he is responsible for assisting older persons, their families, and caregivers, and other community callers, and to address their needs for elder care assistance by providing advice, information, assessment and care planning activities on the phone or in person. S/he also facilitates educational support groups and provides assessments and consultations as part of other agency care planning programs and services. S/he participates in developing and maintaining resource materials as part of the Age Info team. S/he participates in agency marketing efforts. S/he plans and implements community educational events, especially ones directed at caregivers.
Requirements: A Master's degree in social work or counseling, and one year of experience in counseling, case management preferred; or a Bachelor's degree in social work or related degree, and 2 years of experience in counseling, case management preferred. Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Knowledge of foreign language, (Spanish, Portuguese, Creole/French), a plus. Knowledge of MS Word, database management and the ability to learn new computer programs required. Group leadership experience a plus. Vehicle preferred. Experience working with individuals in a long term care setting preferred. Occasional work on evening and/or weekend. Experience working with elders and/or developmentally challenged and disabled adults in a community setting required. Excellent oral and written skills required.
Mid $40s and an excellent benefits package including a 35-hour work week, medical, dental, agency paid life, short/long term disability, 401(k) with agency contribution, earned leave accrued at a rate of 24 days per year and 13 holidays.
