LICSW- Medical Social Worker

Franciscan Children's has a full-time social worker position open for the two medical/rehabilitative units. The social worker is responsible for the delivery of clinical social work services to children and families. The candidate will be licensed independently at the LICSW level and can provide supervision to other social workers or social work interns as needed. As a member of an organization committed to service excellence, participation in quality improvement planning, team, and staff meetings are expected.
Clinical competencies in the delivery of services to children in families, with particular reference to the impact of acute and chronic illness on patients/families.
Knowledge and skill in performing psychosocial assessments and treatment planning with a variety of patient populations, including competency in assessment and use of DSM 5 diagnoses, developmental psychology, and strategic interventions to engage difficult and/or resistant clients.
An understanding of work in a health care setting as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Knowledge and skills in examining cultural factors at work with individuals and families in medical settings. Understanding of the health care issues as they relate to cultural diversity and disenfranchised populations.
Knowledge of specialized community resources for handicapped and medically ill children and their families.
Effective risk management skills and experience, including strategic and systemic interventions.
MSW in clinical social work is required
Licensure at the independent level (LICSW) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
At least three to five years' experience (preferably at least two years of which were in a hospital setting)
Experience with children and families dealing with complex medical issues (preferably at least one year of which was in a hospital or rehabilitation setting)
Prior experience with supervising staff and/or social work interns is preferred
