Clinical Social Worker

William James College is currently seeking a licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) to join our Forensic Services/Juvenile Court Clinic team in Suffolk and Norfolk Counties. William James College is a non-profit graduate school of professional psychology educating clinicians and providing services to children, adults, families and communities in Massachusetts since the 1970s. These Juvenile Court Clinics provide court-ordered evaluations in Care and Protection, Child Requiring Assistance (CRA), Delinquency and Youthful Offender cases, and emergency and civil commitment proceedings for psychiatric hospitalization or substance abuse commitment proceedings. 

Duties Include:
• Perform court-ordered evaluations for the Massachusetts Juvenile Courts in juvenile delinquency and Youthful Offender cases, and status matters (Child Requiring Assistance), child abuse and neglect cases (Care and Protection), civil commitment and other evaluations according to Massachusetts General Laws according to practice guidelines established by the Division of Forensic Mental Health of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH). The Juvenile Court Clinics are operated as a collaboration between the Administrative Office of the Juvenile Court and DMH.
• Conduct psychological and diagnostic screenings and assessments of youth and families involved with the Juvenile Court and referred by the Juvenile Court.
• Provide reports and, as needed, testimony to the Juvenile Court
• Consult with judges, probation officers, and (as appropriate) others regarding court-involved youth and families.
• Provide consultation and training as may be requested by the Juvenile Court to judges, probation officers, other court personnel and others (e.g. community behavioral health providers, attorneys) 
• Provide evidence-based short-term therapeutic services and psychoeducational services to individuals and/or in groups
• Supervise work-study students, trainees, and interns
• Provide referrals to court-involved youth and their families for behavioral health services in their communities, and other supports or services as needed. 
• Other duties as assigned

Job requirements:

  • Social Work Degree at the Master's Degree.
  • Licensed to practice psychology in MA, or license-eligible.
  • Experience in forensic mental health, forensic and/or psychological assessment.
  • Strong writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Certification as a Certified Juvenile Court Clinician (CJCC) is a plus, but not required. If not currently certified, the social worker will need to be eligible to be a CJCC I candidate. We will provide supervision and training for CJCC certification.
