Client Support Advocate - Co-Shelter Program

Family Aid Boston's Client Support Advocates work with families sharing shelter apartments as part of Massachusetts' Emergency Assistance family shelter entitlement. Client Support Advocates provide general supervision of program participants and oversee adherence to program rules and expectations designed to promote client well-being and safety. 

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Maintains safety and security of families.
• Provides crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
• Responds to emergency situations as they arise, notifying supervisor as needed.
• Maintains detailed documentation including shift logs and incident reports.
• Monitors and reports facility and equipment maintenance needs.
• Monitors participant activities.
• Conducts building Rounds
• Available to support families with problem solving and immediate needs.
• Maintains client confidentiality and observes professional boundaries.
• Attends staff meetings.
• Participates in house meetings.
• Other activities as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements/Qualifications *

Qualifications:
• Some College preferred
• CPR & 1st Aid certified
• Previous human service experience, preferably residential, and a strong interest in working with homeless families.
• Dependable, adaptable, and able to cope with stress.
• Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize competing demands.
• Good follow-through and attention to detail.
• Strong team player.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with preference for bilingual (esp. Spanish) capability.
