Social Worker

FKO is seeking a Social Worker to manage the organization's Greater Boston (EEC Region 3 & 6) Supportive Contract with the Department of Children and Families; including case management and implementation of positive behavioral supports and interventions. The Social Worker will have expertise in working with families and youth at risk and have an understanding of child behavior with the knowledge of setting up supports and interventions for student success in an out of school time environment.

Location: Salem, MA

The Social Worker will assist with: managing the organization's DCF Supportive Contract, implementing the philosophy of positive behavior guidance, meeting with Site Directors to design program supports, tracking children on afterschool support plans, and making sure all policies and procedures for behavioral incidents are followed.

The Social Worker will be dedicated to advance the safety, health and productivity of children by supporting families and utilizing community partners.


Specific Responsibilities:
Collaborates with local DCF Area Offices to place supportive referrals in FKO program sites;
Monitors DCF cases on an ongoing basis, ensuring children and families receive the support services necessary for success;
Assesses the social emotional needs of children and makes referrals for services, supports, resources and referrals for children and families;
Provides on-site support to program staff around positive behavior guidance through training, modeling and coaching;
Facilitates meetings with parents, families, social workers and wrap-around team members;
Facilitates staff support meetings and professional development, as needed;
Attends meetings with organization's partners such as school districts, local mental health agencies, etc.


Qualified Candidates will possess an upbeat, mission focused, team-oriented attitude; possess the desire to work alongside colleagues, FKO administration and staff; and be reliable and accountable for his/her work. The ideal candidate will have:
compassion for supporting children and families;
ability to work independently and as part of a team;
ability to promote strategies to widen the circle of supports around families and communities;
strong case management, communication and organizational skills;
knowledge of school age children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development;
demonstrated professional skills in the areas of staff development; program goal setting; and establishing procedures for evaluating the progress of individual children and staff.
LCSW, LCSW-eligible or LICSW required
Minimum of two years' experience working with school age children.

Salary: $40,000-$50,000
