Social Worker for Milton Residents and Parish Members Funds, First Parish in Milton

Henry B. Martin Fund and Swift Charity, located at First Parish in Milton are seeking a part-time, 24-hour per week, LICSW, to oversee their charitable programs designed to provide aid to individuals and families in Milton who are in crisis and in need of short-term financial assistance.

Generations old, the funds have been formally administered for close to thirty years by a professional social worker. The position has grown to an annual caseload of 175-200 individuals, all of whom reside in Milton.


Social Services Responsibilities Include:

  • Intakes, assessment, and validation of financial needs of Milton town residents

  • Follow up with clients as needed (typically 6-10 times per year; with closer follow up for longer periods for those in crisis)

  • Collaboration and referrals to and from additional community resources

  • Prepare and maintain confidential client records

  • Monitor and make decisions within financial grant assistance guidelines

Administrative Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversight of all funding resources

  • Disbursement of grants and funds

  • Annual reporting to funding sources

Community Outreach Responsibilities Include:

  • Liaison with community members and community organizations (e.g. Select Board; school officials, Milton Board of Health; Milton Council on Aging; Milton Police and Fire Departments; local houses of worship)

Qualifications Include:

  • LICSW with a minimum of five years of experience

  • Demonstrated interest in community social work

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Knowledge of state and federal assistance programs

  • Social work administrative experience preferred
