About the ENLACE Program
ENLACE (Engaging Newcomers in Language and Content Education) serves 14, 15, and 16 year-old English learners at Lawrence High School who have been in the U.S. for less than two years and are just beginning their English language development (WIDA Level 1). Our mission is to provide newcomer students with the academic and linguistic foundation and socio-emotional supports that will allow them to transition successfully and quickly into the mainstream high school environment, on track to pursue a college or career of their choice.

ENLACE combines the resources of a traditional public high school (access to campus facilities, teams, clubs, field trips, dances, etc.) with the extra supports of a small, specialized learning community. We believe students learn language best through challenging, engaging, and hands-on academic content and train our educators to teach language through their subject areas. We hold high behavioral and academic expectations for our students, while providing supports that will help them understand and meet the expectations of their new school environment.
