I figured I should start posting interesting updates here in case anyone is interested.
Future and Admitted Students Sections
These sections launched along with the new Simmons website, but due to time constraints, we initially went live with placeholder pages. The following are the final designs that went live this week.

We also made some updates to iTunes U to match the revised look-and-feel.

Everyone's talking politics, however, I'm only hearing about Democrats and Republicans... Why aren't any other candidates being talked about? What about the various 3rd parties? I can't be the only person interested in seeing the views of the other parties. And come to think of it, the only reason I'm actually interested in hearing from the third parties was a guy on the MBTA who saw my tattered Simmons College bag and asked if I was voting and for who and I said I was undecided and he gave me a "Vote for McKinney" flyer. If you're curious, this is the state-by-state ballot access chart. It lists all the parties and marks the major ones that are available for each state. :D
Personally, I've been following the commentaries by the Green Party candidates and the Libertarian party candidate on bloggingthedebates.com which is using voterwatch.org to get all the different angles from politicians, writers, and users. It's awesome.
I love seeing all the commentaries.

Juliana Ross, '10, Simmons Hillel's Grinspoon Israel Advocacy Intern, was quoted in the article Grinspoon Interns Prepare for Successful Year at National Training, posted on both the Hillel International Center's website and the Israel on Campus Coalition's website!
Contact Hillel to find about more about Juliana's work on campus during the 2008-2009 school year.

Thanks so much to the Simmons "techies" who are blogging. As a frequent early adopter of many classroom learning technologies, sometimes I'm not sure where to look for support. In browsing through the Simmons blogs, and reviewing some of the blogs being posted by Simmons "techies"in particular, it's a great way to feel validated. Some of your same technical journeys are similar to my own! In reviewing others' blogs I learned that Leopard really does have some quirks and Vista is still a bit over the horizon right now. Geeze... it's great to know these quirky things are happening to others too! Not only are there blogs about technical challenges, there are also blogs about some next steps thinking.
Great professional development while sipping on my tea!
So.... thanks Simmons "techies" for thinking out loud and sharing your ideas!

Hey everyone! Make sure that you check out senate next Wednesday, November 14th! We will have a panel titled “Got Inclusion?” It should be a great panel about inclusion at Simmons.
It will be in C-103 at 3:30 pm! Be there!

OK, I'll confess. I have been lurking on other educational blogs for a couple of years now. I love seeing other perspectives and opinions about what’s working in K-12 classrooms. It is inspiring to hear about the creative ways educators and therapists are using technology to reach and teach all learners. Regardless of learning challenge, technology can level the playing field, providing scaffolds and tools so that everyone can access curriculum. Were it not for the emergence of blogging, I don’t think these compelling ideas could be shared in as meaningful a manner. Hearing the excitement in the voice of an educator who makes a difference is always an astonishing experience if you ask me.
Here are my two favorite blogs for educators. For those working with low incidence populations, such as students with autism, or learners with the most intensive special needs, try following this one.
Teaching Learners with Multiple Needs
For those working with high incidence populations, such as students with learning disabilities or dyslexia, try following this one.
Teaching Every Student
You know what’s great about both of these? Both are created by Simmons alums! Educators, therapists and parents worldwide follow both blogs!
From my perspective, it’s all about professionals creating healthy learning environments and helping each other to understand what they learn along the way. This just might be one of the best professional development models ever!
