Have you been reccomended?

Posted by Rebecca Brown

I recently learned a new job hunting tip: get recommended on LinkedIn.

Essentially, being recommended means you ask someone, or they do it voluntarily, in your network to write something positive about the work you've done as a student, at a job, internship, etc. Someone could write about your excellent reporting skills or ability to ask questions and pay attention to detail.

Then, when you apply for a job, in your cover letter or first e-mail you could include the link to your LinkedIn and a potential employer could see a reference without picking up the phone.

Don't be afraid to ask someone to recommend you, people are looking to help and it's always nice to read something nice about yourself!

It's what they're there for! Also, I have gotten great response from contacting Simmons alums found on Alumnet for career advice. They are more than happy to help because ... more »
