Lead Teacher

We are a non-profit organization that serves residents in the Area 4 neighborhood in Cambridge by organizing out-of-school-time classes, events, and activities for all ages. We are looking to add dynamic, motivated individuals to join our staff for the 2015/2016 school year. 

Location: 

Fletcher Maynard Community School, Cambridge, MA

Applicants should: 

• Be energetic and multi-talented with the ability to lead teach classes, plan activities, promote upcoming events and support the daily operations in our program
• Be interested in leading classes in art, theater, gym games, science, etc. 
• Have interest in working with children from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, as well as children with special needs
• Present themselves and the program in a professional and friendly manner 
• Interact positively with parents
• Show initiative and are team players! 

Program hours of operation: MondayTuesdayThursdayFriday 3:45-5:30Wednesday 2:00-5:30 
Hours per week: Up to 19.5 hours per week, M-F 2:00-6:00pm, with some evening and weekend hours. Including paid time for required professional development workshops, lesson planning and lesson preparation. (When applying please state your availability)

Requirements/Qualifications:

Must be 21 years of age or older. Available 2-5 days per week. Have an Associate degree or higher education, preferably in education, child development or a related field. Have a minimum of 1-2 years experience supervising adults and teens and working in a setting with children between the ages of 4-11. Must have strong oral, writing and computer skills. Must be CPR and First Aid trained within the first 3 months of hire. Have interest working with children from diverse cultural, economic backgrounds and special needs
