YOUR UP-TO-DATE LISTING OF SOCIAL WORK JOBS AND FELLOWSHIPS

Licensed Pediatric Social Worker

1 out of 5 children suffers from a mental disorder in a given year - with 1 out of 10 children significantly debilitated by his/her illness. Low-income children are markedly more likely to suffer from mental illness, due to environmental risk factors (such as homelessness, violence, fractured families).

In Massachusetts during the past year, 1 in 4 children enrolled in MassHealth received care for a mental health issue.
Despite these grim statistics, all common childhood mental disorders can be treated safely and effectively, many within Primary Care settings.
Most childhood mental illness (70%) can be safely and effectively treated in lower-cost primary care settings by PCPs and LICSWs with appropriate training and support.
Experts uniformly agree that community health centers are well-positioned for the type of transformation and collaboration required to accomplish full-scale integration of mental health services and primary care.
